Here at Fresh Start: The Moving Crew, we’re always looking for good people to join our company. After all, not everyone has what it takes to be a mover, and so we always have our feelers out for the best. We know that people are under a lot of stress when they move, and we want to present them with the absolute best workers around.

So you might wonder what it takes to become a mover? Let’s take a look at a few of the attributes we find in our workers.

Strength

When most people think of movers, they think of men lifting heavy boxes and moving large items. Yep, that us! You certainly have to be strong to be a mover (but not necessarily a man), because there are many items that have to be moved that are simply heavy. In fact, we also have a labor only service for when you need stuff moved within your house. Of course, the important thing is that the moving is done safely so that no back injuries or smashed fingers are incurred. And speaking of doing things the right way, you’ll need…

The Ability to Learn

The good thing is, packing gets easier the more a person does it. But that doesn’t mean we’re just going to hire you and let you loose on a customer’s antiques! We have special training days so that we can teach our movers and packers the absolute best way to move items, for the sake of their physical health as well as for the item itself.

Stamina

Of course, moving takes time, and that’s why every mover we hire needs stamina. Moving a piano is tough, but moving a piano and then a chiffonier and then three mattresses and then 80 boxes is a whole different ball of wax (we also move balls of wax). Stamina can be built over time, but it’s good if we get someone who’s used to long workouts.

Spacial Skills

There was a great scene on the Simpsons a few years ago where Homer had to pack the car with a huge amount of stuff. Bart says that all of the stuff to be packed will never fit, but Homer responds “this is what all those hours of playing Tetris were for,” at which time he imagines all the stuff (and the people) as Tetris shapes.

It’s no wonder the writers came up with that scene, because many of us love the challenge when looking at a pile of stuff and coming up with the most efficient way in which it could be packed. If you have that sort of interested, a job as a mover might just be for you.

Of course, spacial skills can also help with the part of the job that includes packing. Which box would be best for all of those clothes? You certainly don’t want one that’s too big, because that just leads to wasted space. And if you choose one that’s too small, then you have to either repack or use a second box.

If you’re a quick learner and think packing might be a good career for you, contact Fresh Start: The Moving Crew.
